Ubisu Solves Urban Issues through Good Design.

Inspired by solutions created for the most densely populated cities in the world, ubisu explores issues affecting the city homeowner, such as environmental concerns and storage constraints, to create unique and modern design solutions to improve neighbourhoods, communities and lifestyles.

The Story of Ubisu

Ubisu was conceived one evening during a stroll in a downtown Toronto neighbourhood. Company founder and city homeowner, Alana Charles, noticed that almost every house on her street had a very large garbage and recycling bin that was visible to a passerby.  Due to the lack of storage space, bins were scattered on homeowners' front porches and lawns, ruining the exterior aesthetic of the house. Alana realized that the urban homeowner currently had few options to attractively store these bins other than traditional sheds, and wanted to offer an innovative, highly functional and compact solution that raised the aesthetic standard of the home, rather than just a disguise for the bin. Ubisu was born to fill that niche and to further create, source and design solutions to urban issues for local homeowners.

Who We Are

Alana Charles, Chief Visionary

Alana is an accidental entrepreneur. Discontented with cubicle life and the nine to five mentality, she wanted to create a company that inspired innovation and encouraged creativity. She broke free of her cubicle and jumped head first into the world of entrepreneurship and urban design. Landing some days on her head and more days on her feet, Alana combined her love for city living and innovative, modern products for the home into a company that solves urban issues through good design.
